This house is a study in duality, a division between two distinct environments, a result of creative dialogue between designers to build half-a-house and half-a-garden for an illustrator client. The walled interior provides a sense of enclosure and function, while a transparent outdoor space offers an open, liberating contrast. The journey begins with a ramp that acts as a symbolic transition, a "cleansing" path from the busy urban life. Inside, the spaces are functionally designed for daily life, but the real destination is the garden at the back. Here, an outdoor kitchen and lush greenery create a secluded retreat—a space where the client can escape the rigors of reality and engage in activities surrounded by nature.
The project’s main focus lies in the details. The structural columns stand independently of the walls, a deliberate choice that highlights the unique role of each element. This architectural honesty shows codependency, where the wall wraps around the column but never touches it, allowing each to express its function. The entire structure is lifted from the ground, giving it a sense of weightlessness and a floating appearance. This is a house that doesn’t just shelter its occupant; it inspires them, reflecting a dedication to craft, form, and function.
